Shaftesbury PLC

1986 - Shaftesbury formed by The Levy family, acquires its first holding in Chinatown

1987 - Shaftesbury is listed on London Stock Exchange

1988 - 1995 - Shaftesbury makes key acquisitions in Chinatown, Carnaby and Seven Dials

2005 - Longmartin joint venture formed, which owned an interest in a 1.9 acre cluster of mixed-use buildings in Covent Garden

2007 - Shaftesbury becomes a Real Estate Investment Trust

1995 – 2023 - Shaftesbury continued investing in new and emerging clusters building its portfolio in Carnaby, Soho, Seven Dials, Covent Garden and Fitzrovia

By 2023, its portfolio comprised 2 million square feet lettable space extending to 16.4 acres, including over 600 restaurants, cafés, pubs, and shops, 0.5 million square feet of offices and 632 apartments

Shaftesbury’s long-term strategy focused on contributing to the success of London’s West End by curating lively and thriving villages where people live, work and visit

Capital & Counties Properties PLC

1933 - Capital & Counties Property Company Limited is incorporated which includes a portfolio of property in London and the Home Counties

1992 - Capital & Counties merges with Transatlantic Holdings plc, which changes its name to Liberty International Holdings in 1996

2006 - Capital & Counties acquires the iconic Covent Garden Market and Piazza as well as properties on surrounding streets

2010 - Capital & Counties demerges from Liberty International PLC to become Capital & Counties Properties PLC (Capco)

2010 - 2023 - Capco made its initial investment in Covent Garden in 2006 and has assembled the portfolio over a period of 16 years totalling approximately 1 million square feet of lettable space

This investment was driven by a long-term value creation strategy to reposition the Covent Garden estate as a world-class destination with a clear investment strategy centred on creative asset management
